Program: Food Raising Team
The Foodraising Team Members are responsible for soliciting donations of fresh, healthy food, guided by the Gordon Neighbourhood House Food Philosophy, to support the programs, events, projects and operations of the Neighbourhood House.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Foodraising team members are responsible for reaching out to local businesses and community organizations through a variety of written and spoken communications media, to obtain donations of specific foods, as directed by the Foodraising team leader, to support the Neighbourhood House’s endeavors.
Members will be frequently asked to draft solicitation letters, based on a standard template, to send to targeted potential donors, and will be responsible for in-person and telephone follow-up.
Members will familiarize themselves with Gordon Neighbourhood House’s Donor Recognition policies and standard procedures, and will be able to communicate them effectively to the potential donors they approach.
Members will familiarize themselves with the Gordon Neighbourhood House Food Philosophy, and will be able to articulate its pertinent details to potential donors.
Foodraising Team members are generally asked to attend one 1-1.5 hour meeting per month
Experience and Qualifications
Foodraising Team Members must be fluent, articulate and literate in at least one language. Command of English is a strong asset.
Foodraising Team Members must comport themselves in a professional manner when contacting potential donors.
Much of the work involved in participating in the Foodraising Team will occur over the telephone, or at the premises of potential donors. Outside of the monthly meetings, there is potential to arrange for occasional workspace at Gordon Neighbourhood House, if required.
Required Availability: Foodraising Team members are generally asked to attend one 1-1.5 hour meeting per month.
