West End Games Night Coordinator(s)
The West End Games Night is held every other Thursday during the summer (6 events in total), in the Jim Deva Plaza from 6:00-9:00pm. The Coordinator is responsible for managing the: set-up (one hour before the event), event hosting, and take-down (one hour after the event). We anticipate the Coordinator role will involve 10 hours per week: 5 hours on the day of the event, and 5 hours scheduling and promoting.
The West End Games Night is held every other Thursday during the summer (6 events in total), in the Jim Deva Plaza from 6:00-9:00pm. Each event requires two shifts of volunteers, who will each complete a 2.5-hour shift (5-7:30pm and/or 7:30-9:45pm).
Each shift will involve roughly 2.5 hours of volunteer time. We request that volunteers be available for at least 3 shifts, and ideally commit to all six events. Volunteers are welcome to complete two shifts per evening (5:00-9:45pm). Food and light refreshments will be provided for all volunteers. References are available for volunteers who complete a minimum of 3 shifts.
Attic Thrift Store Team Member
We are looking for an outgoing volunteer who is available for a regular (weekly) shift(s) helping out in the Attic Thrift Store at Gordon Neighbourhood House. It’s a great opportunity to meet people, gain some valuable communication and customer service skills!
Outreach and Awareness Volunteer
Gordon Neighbourhood House coordinates many programs and initiatives in the West End. We need help promoting our organization in the community.
Farmers Market Coupon Program Assistant
Help distribute weekly coupons to program participants at the West End Farmers Market on Saturday mornings. This program helps low-income seniors and families access fresh affordable food and also benefits farmers and the local economy.
Resident Advisory Committee (RAC) Member
Gordon Neighbourhood House is recruiting volunteers to help support grassroots, community-building projects through the Neighbourhood Small Grants (NSG) and Greenest City Neighbourhood Small Grants program. NSG is a unique program where residents receive funds for projects that help to build a stronger community.
Are you looking to gain more experience working in a kitchen? Do you have experience with vegan cooking or looking to improve your culinary skills? We are looking for an awesome chef who can cook our Monday vegan lunches.
“Bend & Breathe is a free (pay-what-you-can) weekly yoga class presented by Young Ideas every Tuesday from 6:30-8:00pm at Gordon Neighbourhood House.
We are looking for on an on-call, volunteer instructor who can fill in when our instructor is unavailable. The ideal candidate should be available on Tuesdays with short notice.
Are you experienced in cutting and styling hair? Interested in finding a way to be involved and give back to the community? We are looking for someone who can offer free haircuts to our wonderful seniors in the West End!
Community Lunch Volunteer
We are looking for reliable volunteers available for a regular (weekly) shift helping to prepare and serve Community Lunches. This is a fun, physically active task, requiring somebody who is polite and friendly, and can work as part of a team. Providing excellent service to our lunch guests is a must!

Urban Farm Volunteers
Interested in urban farming? Gordon House is looking for people who can help out at our multiple farm sites in the West End/Downtown. Produce goes back towards GNH programs, including community lunches and affordable produce market at Friday Food Hubs.
Young Ideas Team
The YI Initiative is a group of volunteers who organize events, activities and workshops focused on facilitating opportunities for connection of those in our community that are between the ages of 20 and 39. Young Ideas have hosted soccer at the beach meet-ups, a 90s hip-hop themed pop-up pub and drag queen bingo. The Young ideas program continues to gain momentum as the number of participants increase with each event and activity.
Do you play an instrument? Would you like to practice and show off your skills in front of a crowd? We are looking for an awesome musician to come and play during our food hubs on Fridays at Gordon Neigbourhood House!
Youth Community Engagement Assistant
Gordon Neighbourhood House is looking for an outgoing and dependable volunteer to assistant for outreach and community engagement initiatives in the West End. This is a physically active task which requires someone who is engaging, interactive and self-motivated.
Food Hub Volunteer
We are looking for an outgoing volunteer who is available every Friday (except the last Friday of the month) from 9am-2pm for the Community Food Hub.
