Family Place Volunteers

Whether you have previously worked with kids, studied early child development, or would like to gain more experience supporting early years/family programs and events, there is space for your unique experience and skills! You can support our Family Place program in different ways:

  • General Support with Family Drop-ins: setting up arts&crafts stations, interacting with kids ages 0-5, leading circle and/or storytimes (any language is welcome!), etc.
  • Sharing your Skill: if you have any skills/knowledge that you think could benefit families in the community, tell us about it! Some of the previous volunteer-led workshops include Chiropractor-led wellness sessions; Family Yoga; Art Classes; ECE-led Special Storytime.
  • Special Events: support with facilitation of the special family-friendly events: greeting guests, setting up the space, clean-up, food serving, etc.
  • Childminding during Special Events: with support from staff, you would mind kids ages between 2-6 during special events (parents/caregivers in the same building). Previous ECE experience or current studies aimed at early child development are preferred.

*Times and Dates are flexible!

Contact familyplace@gordonhouse.org for more information, to apply you must complete our volunteer application form.

Due to the nature of our programming, all volunteers are subject to a basic criminal record check that we conduct free of charge.
