Program: Community Food Hub
Position: Chop n’ Chat Volunteers
We are looking for volunteers who like being in a kitchen, are passionate about food and enjoy working as a team. In partnership with the Greater Vancouver Food Bank, Gordon House wants to continue providing healthy and delicious fresh dishes during our community food hubs.
Chop n’ Chat is a weekly Thursday program where a group of volunteers get together to socialize, have fun, make new friends, and learn to prepare tasty soups/salads/stir frys etc. from scratch which will then be served at the Friday food hub the following day.
The dishes prepared on Thursday evenings is much appreciated by the seniors, families and single people who attend the Friday food hubs held at Gordon House. The food is served out by the bowl to anyone who needs it.
This previously much loved program has been on hiatus due to scheduling issues but will be back from next Thurs 11th October and led by our talented Gordon House chef Peter.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
– Assist with the preparation of a large quantity of fresh vegetables (chopping, peeling, boiling, etc)
Start Date: Thursday 11th October – will be ongoing weekly from this date!
