If you responded “yes” to any of these questions, I encourage you to enroll in my FREE Japanese class! Learning the Japanese language will not only enable you to actively engage in these interests, but also develop your understanding and appreciation of Japanese culture!

Level of literacy in the Japanese society

Lv. 1:    Typical foreigner

Lv. 2:    Foreign otaku/weeaboo

Lv. 3:    Kindergarten

Lv. 4:    Elementary school; foreign Japanese learner

Lv. 5:    Middle school and beyond

If you take this class seriously, you will definitely achieve at least a Level 4 by the end of next spring! You will also learn elementary Japanese grammar and vocabulary over the course of the year, not to mention receive many complimentary Japanese resources!

There are no prerequisites! I only ask that you promise to be a committed student who consistently attends classes and does not behave in a disruptive manner.

This class will be held over Zoom (for now) every Sunday from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., Pacific time.

About the Instructor

Karen Ng is a trans woman of Asian descent who dreams of becoming a language teacher here in Vancouver. She has studied Japanese since 2014 and has informally taught English, Math, and Japanese for a number of years. In addition to English and Japanese, she speaks Mandarin Chinese, French, and a little bit of Spanish. She is currently working towards her Associate of Arts at Langara College.
