Join us for a special West End Diwali Celebration at Gordon Neighbourhood House! The event will kick off with a soothing kirtan (meditative chanting) led by Harreson and his group from Vancouver Community Kirtan, followed by a hearty vegetarian community meal, and outdoor sparkler display.

6:00pm-7:15pm: Kirtan
7:30pm-9:00pm: Vegetarian Dinner
9:00pm: Sparklers & Lighting of Diyas

Kirtan usually attracts an adult crowd, but anyone aged 13 and above is welcome to attend. If you bring younger children, please ensure they are interested in participating as it is a musical event.

This unforgettable evening will nourish not just the body but also the soul, bringing our community together in the spirit of light and knowledge. Let’s unite and illuminate our hearts and minds this Diwali!

About Diwali:
Diwali, also known as Deepavali, is one of the most important and widely celebrated festivals in India and among Hindu communities worldwide. While the significance and customs of Diwali may vary among different regions of India and among various communities, the central theme of celebrating light, prosperity, and the victory of good over evil remains consistent.
The festival of lights associated with Diwali typically lasts for five days and usually falls between October and November, depending on the Hindu lunar calendar.

Gordon Neighbourhood House acknowledges that our community is located on the unceded, occupied, and ancestral homelands of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.
