Gordon Neighbourhood House: Collaborating With Partners to Improve Food Access

Gordon Neighbourhood House proudly serves as the Regional Community Food Hub on Vancouver’s Downtown Peninsula, playing a vital role in increasing access to nourishing and culturally appropriate food for all. This initiative, aligned with United Way British Columbia’s mission, is all about strengthening connections to create healthy, inclusive communities across the region. By collaborating with numerous community partners, we’re part of a network of Food Hubs across BC, working together to share resources and knowledge for a more equitable food system.

Our approach is centered on food justice principles and driven by community needs, using dignified food access as a way to bring people together, support neighbors, and create lasting connections. Through the “hub and spoke” model, we collaborate with local organizations, schools, businesses, and community members to develop sustainable solutions for food security. This model empowers us to address food access challenges, provide wraparound support, and develop long-term solutions that benefit the entire community.

At Gordon Neighbourhood House, our work extends beyond food distribution to include educational programming, capacity building, and advocacy for systemic changes. As we continue to grow and evolve, we are committed to creating a resilient and connected food system that serves the diverse needs of our community while building a stronger, more food-secure future for all.
