West End Regional Community Food Hub
Gordon Neighbourhood House is proud partner with United Way British Columbia to be a United Way Regional Community Food Hub. Food hubs are networks of community partners working together to improve food access by sharing resources and knowledge to deliver more reliable, inclusive, and dignified food programs.
As the Downtown Peninsula’s food hub, we are excited to bring local partners together to tackle the challenges and inequities of BC’s food system through a comprehensive, multisectoral, and collaborative approach. Our goals include increasing access to healthy, culturally appropriate food, advocating for long-term solutions, supporting community-led initiatives, and reducing food waste. At the same time, we are addressing the root causes of food insecurity, such as poverty, systemic racism, inequality, and inadequate social supports. Together, we are driving systemic change and building a more food-secure future for everyone in our community.
“These partnerships have been instrumental in addressing the unique needs of our diverse communities, allowing us to create a more inclusive and comprehensive approach to food access and food security.”
-Alžběta Sabová, Food Security Director, United Way British Columbia
We’re excited to connect, bring partners together, and collaboratively share skills, news, updates, and resources as we all continue providing a diverse mix of programs and supports for the community. We invite you to join us in building a stronger, more connected food community on the West End/Downtown Peninsula!
