We’re excited to launch the 2025 Farmers’ Market Coupon Program at Gordon Neighbourhood House! This program helps make fresh, local food more accessible to low-income neighbours by providing weekly coupons that can be used like cash at farmers’ markets across Vancouver.

🛒 What Is the Farmers’ Market Coupon Program?

The BC Farmers’ Market Nutrition Coupon Program supports low-income seniors (55+), pregnant people, and families with children under 19 by offering $27 per week in coupons for 8 weeks. These coupons can be used to buy fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs, eggs, dairy, nuts, meat, fish, and even food-producing plants at local farmers’ markets.

The closest market to Gordon Neighbourhood House is the West End Farmers’ Market, located beside Nelson Park. It runs on Saturdays from 9:00am–2:00pm, from May 3rd to October 25th, 2025.

🎟️ 80 Spots Available Through Lottery

This year, Gordon Neighbourhood House received funding to support 180 neighbours. Of these, 80 spots are available to the general public through a randomized lottery. We use a lottery system to ensure fairness and accessibility, acknowledging that everyone’s situation is different, and to respect privacy without requiring personal documentation.

✅ Who Can Apply?

To be eligible, you must:

• Self-identify as low-income (no proof of income required)
• Live in the West End or Coal Harbour, west of Burrard Street
• Be a senior (55+), pregnant person, or a household with children under 19

We understand that every household’s financial situation is unique. You may identify as low-income and meet the program requirements if you or someone in your household has experienced any of the following:

• Skipped or missed meals because of limited resources
• Ate less healthy food because better options were unaffordable
• Felt worried or stressed about having enough food
• Repeated meals or ate the same food for several days due to cost

These are just some examples, your experience may look different and that’s okay.

• Lottery selection: Monday, July 7th, 2025
• Notification of results: Tuesday, July 8th, 2025

📍 Program Requirements

If selected, participants will:

• Receive $27 per week in coupons for 8 weeks
• Pick up coupons bi-weekly from Gordon Neighbourhood House (1019 Broughton Street)
• Complete a short enrollment form and a brief survey at the end of the program
• Receive updates throughout the season
