Neighbours Pitching in to Keep the West End Beautiful!

A heartfelt thank you to all the neighbours who joined our West End Community Clean-Up and BBQ with the West End BIA. It was wonderful to see people of all ages coming together to care for our shared neighbourhood. Events like this remind us that small actions add up and that a cleaner, more welcoming community starts with all of us.

Together, we collected litter, connected with neighbours, and helped make our streets and public spaces a little brighter. Every bag filled and every piece of litter picked up made a difference.

While community clean-ups are a great way to give back, the best solution is prevention. Littering and illegal dumping impact everyone, creating unnecessary costs, environmental harm, and a less welcoming neighbourhood. In fact, Clean Team staff remove over 1,000 pounds of litter from Denman, Davie, and Robson streets every month! The Clean Team program is a partnership between the West End BIA and Gordon Neighbourhood House.

We can all do our part by disposing of waste properly, reporting illegal dumping, and taking a moment to pick up litter when we see it. Keeping our neighbourhood clean is a shared responsibility, and even small efforts can have a big impact.

Thank you again to everyone who participated. Together, we can help keep the West End clean, vibrant, and welcoming for all.

Equipment and supplies for our community clean-ups are provided through the Neighbourhood Cleanup Program in the City of Vancouver’s Engineering Department. Thank you to Greg and the team for their ongoing support.
